Permanent Exterior Lighting Installation in Scotia
We install permanent lighting along your roofline in a slim aluminum track matched to your trim. By day it nearly disappears. At night you choose warm white for every evening or full color for the holidays, all from an app, with no ladders each season.
A slim channel of light built into your roofline
The system is a run of small LED nodes seated in a channel fastened along the fascia or just below the drip edge. In daylight the channel is what people notice, so we give it real attention: its profile, its finish color and the way it turns corners, climbs gables and steps around downspouts.
The nodes are individually addressable, which means each one can show its own color and brightness. Most of our customers run a soft warm white for curb appeal most of the year, switch to themed colors for holidays and game days, and set a schedule so the lights come on at dusk without anyone thinking about it.
It makes sense when the yearly ladder routine of stringing lights up and pulling them back down has worn thin. It also suits anyone who wants soft, low-glare light at the eaves, or who feels the front of the house looks unfinished once the sun goes down.
What your installation includes
- Color-matched aluminum track
- We bring finish samples and hold them against your fascia, trim and gutters. Aluminum holds its shape through cold winters and summer sun far better than plastic clips, and a matched color keeps the line quiet in daylight.
- Weather-rated LED nodes
- The nodes are sealed against rain and melting snow and sit recessed in the channel. We talk through spacing with you, since closer spacing gives a smoother line and wider spacing reads as distinct points of light.
- Low-voltage power and a tidy wire run
- The system runs on low voltage from a power supply placed near an existing outdoor or garage outlet. We route the wire along trim lines and through the track so you are not looking at loose cable.
- App-controlled setup on your phone
- Once the hardware is up, we link the controller to your home network, save a handful of everyday scenes and program the lights to switch on at dusk. Adding your own colors and patterns later takes a few taps.
- Final walkthrough after dark
- We check every run at night, adjust brightness and color temperature, and show you how to change scenes. Ladders, scraps and packaging leave with us.
Signs permanent lighting is a good fit
Seasonal lights take a full weekend
If hanging strings means hours on a ladder in cold weather and another afternoon taking them down, a permanent track ends that routine.
Clips keep breaking or leaving marks
Plastic clips get brittle after a few winters and can scuff or stain gutters and trim. A fixed aluminum track spreads the load and stays put.
The front of the house goes dark at night
A single porch light often leaves the roofline and entry in shadow. Even light at the eaves gives the whole home exterior shape after sunset.
You want more than one season of use
If you would enjoy warm white most nights and color for holidays, birthdays or team colors, addressable lighting covers all of it with one install.
How the work goes, from first call to first evening
- 1
Phone call and free quote
You tell us about the house and what you have in mind. We set a time to come out, look at the roofline and give you a free quote.
- 2
On-site walk and material choices
We measure each run, note gables, peaks and transitions, and decide with you where the track mounts best. You pick the track finish and node spacing, and we confirm where power will come from.
- 3
Installation day
We mount the track, set the nodes, run the wire to the power supply and test each section as it goes up. On most homes the work stays outside, and we keep ladders off landscaping and set them on pads to protect walks and siding.
- 4
Setup and evening check
We open the app with you, build your everyday scene and schedule, and look at the result after dark so any adjustments happen while we are still there.

What moves the price
Every quote starts with the actual linear footage of your roofline and the choices you make about materials. We write the quote out by line so you can see where the cost sits, and we explain trade-offs rather than pushing the top option.
- Linear feet and roof shape
- Long, straight eaves go quickly. Steep gables, multiple peaks and second-story runs take more track, more corner pieces and more time on the ladder.
- Node spacing
- Tighter spacing uses more nodes per foot and costs more, but gives a smoother, brighter line. Wider spacing is a fair choice on simpler homes.
- Mounting surface and access
- Aluminum and vinyl fascia mount differently from painted wood, and older trim sometimes needs extra care. Decks, steep grades or tight side yards can slow access.
- Power and controller location
- A convenient outlet near the start of the run keeps things simple. Splitting the system into zones or reaching a distant run adds wire and equipment.
Questions about permanent lighting
Something not covered here? (518) 754-0664
Will the track be obvious during the day?
Not much, if the color and mounting spot are chosen well. That is why we bring finish samples to your house instead of picking from a catalog. On most homes the track reads as a thin trim line from the street.
What happens to the lights in snow and ice?
Each node sits recessed inside the channel with a sealed housing, so meltwater runs past it. Aluminum stays rigid in deep cold, unlike plastic clips that crack after a few winters. We position the track so snow sliding off the roof and ice building at the eaves move over it instead of snagging.
Do you have to drill into my fascia?
Yes, the track is fastened with small screws, spaced along the run. We place them carefully and seal where needed. If your trim has soft or damaged spots, we point them out before we mount anything.
What if my Wi-Fi goes down?
The lights keep their last setting and schedule on the controller in most setups. Once the network is back, the app reconnects and you can change scenes again.
Can the lights go on the gutters instead of the fascia?
Sometimes, depending on the gutter style and how it is hung. We look at your gutters during the walk and recommend the mount that keeps the line straight and leaves the gutters free to drain.
